Dr Oni Blackstock
Dr Oni Blackstock is a primary care and HIV physician, researcher, and public health leader. Who decides? That question anchors her work. Dr. Blackstock founded and leads Health Justice, which partners with health institutions on racial and intersectional equity, and its Grounded Innovation Lab, which conducts participatory research on community governance in health.
She previously led the Bureau of HIV at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, expanding HIV prevention and treatment access and driving new diagnoses to a record low.
Before that, at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she developed and evaluated NIH- and CDC-funded HIV prevention and treatment interventions in direct partnership with the communities most affected.
