BBC Radio London – HIV and Black Women Interview
Susan Cole was interviewed on BBC London Radio, on behalf of Phoenix Health Movement, about Black women in London being at higher risk of HIV. She highlights that this is linked to “intersecting forms of stigma, discrimination and disadvantage” that Black women regularly experience, leading to worse health outcomes across different health conditions.
She stresses the importance of knowledge about the reality of HIV today, including that people on effective treatment can’t pass the virus on, to tackle stigma around HIV, and the need for targeted services for Black women. She also discusses Positive Health our broadcast series focused on HIV & issues affecting Black communities.
