APPG on Black Health Reproductive Equity & Fibroids Meeting
Susan Cole participated in the first parliamentary meeting of the APPG on Black Health, chaired by Paulette Hamilton MP with CAHN as the secretariat, Reproductive Equity & Fibroids was the topic of discussion.
Fibroids disproportionately impact women of colour. Black women are diagnosed with fibroids roughly three times as frequently as white women. Black women develop fibroids earlier in life and tend to experience larger and more numerous fibroids that cause more severe symptoms.
The meeting united people with lived experience of fibroids, clinical experts and individuals with academic insight to push for better research, health literacy and culturally relevant care.
A report detailing the key outcomes from the discussions is being created
